PWT has a refurbished Sciaky computer controlled 3-axis, 36"x36"x36", 60KV Electron Beam Welding machine, ready to be installed on the customer's shop floor. The machine footprint is 22' x 13'. [Sciaky EB 3-axis Welding System]

The Electron Beam Welder includes the following packages:
  Package I - Control Cabinets. The machine includes a control cabinet with associated Mark VII control printed circuit boards, operator console, and power distribution cabinet.
  Package II - Upgraded Vacuum System. The machine possesses two new vacuum gauge systems, one for the chamber and one for the gun to interface with the existing Mark VII control, including Televac vacuum gauges (calibrated to NIST standards) and troubleshooting simulators. The machine has chamber and gun turbo pumps for high vacuum conditions.
  Package III - Axis System. The machine possesses a three-axis ("X", "Y", and rotary) servo drive system complete with drives, motors, and encoders. The encoders provide feedback to the computer control for accurate positioning and speed control.
  Package IV - Upgraded High Speed Scanner System. The high speed (2500 Hz) scanner system will consist of a Scanner Booster Amplifier and Scanner Booster Simulator, used for troubleshooting the Scanner Booster Amplifier circuit.
  Package V - High Voltage System. The machine possesses a 15KW (60KV, 250ma) high voltage tank and single transistor solid-state AVR system. PWT's transistor pack uses one IGBT (Isolated Gate Bridge Transistor), the latest generation in power transistors. See a further description of the single transistor AVR under "Solid State AVR System" on our EBW Components page.
  Package VI - Computer Control System. The computer control consists of an S120 Data General computer, its associated printed circuit boards, a CRT monitor, and all necessary input/output (I/O) interface printed circuit boards/components. A full computer cabinet with I/O rack shall house the computer/electrical components. Included is a rack mounted CNC mini-file system, which utilizes 3 1/2 inch, 1.44 Megabyte diskettes and USB drives. An operator's pendant, with all necessary controls, is provided. PWT's new Advanced U-Weld Control can be supplied as an option.
  Package VII - Initial Machine Startup. We will ensure the electrical and gas supplies are connected adequately, start the machine up, and perform a preventative maintenance (PM) check, including calibration of the critical process parameters, to ensure the machine will meet new machine performance requirements.

   Sciaky Fixed-Gun Electron Beam 4-Axis Welding System (refurbished)

PWT has on its shop floor a fully refurbished fixed-gun Electron Beam Welding System and has made it available for sale. The machine was used for many years to weld aerospace components. The machine is a Sciaky computer controlled 4-axis, 110"x62"x72", 30KW Electron Beam Welding (EBW) System and comes complete with many PWT enhanced solid-state electronic upgrades. The machine footprint is approximately 30' x 24'.
 
This machine is available for viewing and demos in PWT's Carson City facility.

The Electron Beam Welder includes the following packages:
  Package I - Control Cabinets. The machine includes a control cabinet with associated control printed circuit boards, operator console, and power distribution cabinet.
  Package II - Upgraded Vacuum System. The machine has two pumping stations interconnected to the chamber. The machine will consist of a new PLC pumping system and new vacuum gauge system for both pumping stations, including Televac vacuum gauges (calibrated to NIST standards) and troubleshooting simulators. The machine possesses rebuilt mechanical pumps, blowers, and diffusion pumps, as well as PWT's new-style gate valves.
  Package III - Axis System. The machine possesses a four-axis ("X", "Y", table rotation and table tilt) servo drive system complete with new drives, transformers, inductors, panels, and wiring. The machine will have new “X” axis (work carriage) and “Y” axis (gun carriage) ballscrew assemblies, including new 4:1 ratio ballscrews, gearbox, bearings, motors, motor wiring, and encoders. The encoders provide feedback to the computer control for accurate positioning and speed control. A unique joystick handwheel can be used by the machine operator to manually control the two linear axes. The machine also has a rotary headstock with 42 inch diameter faceplate, rated for 1000 pounds minimum.
  Package IV - Upgraded High Speed Scanner System. The high speed (2500 Hz) scanner system will consist of a Scanner Booster Amplifier and Scanner Booster Simulator, used for troubleshooting the Scanner Booster Amplifier circuit.
  Package V - High Voltage System. The machine possesses a fully refurbished 30KW (60KV, 500ma) high voltage tank and new-style single transistor solid-state AVR system. Each of PWT's transistor packs uses one IGBT (Isolated Gate Bridge Transistor), the latest generation in power transistors.   Package VI - Computer Control System.    Sciaky Movable-Gun Electron Beam 5-Axis Welding System NEW in 2016 (to be refurbished)

PWT recently acquired a movable-gun Electron Beam Welding System and has made it available for sale. The machine was used for many years by Rolls Royce Allison to fabricate turbine engine components.
 
The machine is a Sciaky computer controlled 5-axis, 86"x62"x92", 42KW Electron Beam Welding (EBW) System and comes complete with many PWT enhanced solid-state electronic upgrades. The machine footprint is approximately 30 x 24.
The Electron Beam Welder includes the following packages:
  Package I - Control Cabinets. The machine includes a control cabinet with associated control printed circuit boards, operator console, and power distribution cabinet.
  Package II - Upgraded Vacuum System.   Package V - High Voltage System. The machine will possess a 42KW (60KV, 700ma) high voltage tank, high voltage cable, and single transistor solid-state AVR system. PWT's transistor pack uses one IGBT (Isolated Gate Bridge Transistor), the latest generation in power transistors.
  Package VI - Computer Control System. PWT's Advanced U-Weld Control is a Delta Tau Digital Signal Processor (DSP) based NC Controller specifically designed to control up to 32 axes integrated with machine and process variables. Parameters controlled will be Beam Current, Filament Current, Beam Focus, High Voltage, and Deflection/Seam Tracking parameters, along with all of the mechanical axes.   Package VII - Initial Machine Startup. PWT recently acquired a movable-gun Electron Beam Welding System and has made it available for sale. The machine was used for many years by General Electric to fabricate turbine engine components.
 
The machine is a Sciaky computer controlled 6-axis, 68"x68"x84", 42KW Electron Beam Welding (EBW) System and comes complete with many PWT enhanced solid-state electronic upgrades. The machine is ideal for welding wide body turbine engine casings. The machine footprint is approximately 34 x 26.

The Electron Beam Welder includes the following packages:

The fast, accurate scanner system will consist of a Scanner Booster Amplifier and Scanner Booster Simulator, used for troubleshooting the Scanner Booster Amplifier circuit.
  Package V - High Voltage System. The machine will possess a 42KW (60KV, 700ma) high voltage tank, high voltage cable, and single transistor solid-state AVR system. Each of PWT's transistor packs uses an IGBT (Isolated Gate Bridge Transistor), the latest generation in power transistors.

The machine was used for many years to electron beam weld structures on the Boeing F-22 Raptor aircraft. The machine is a Sciaky computer controlled 6-axis, 362"x108"x132", 42KW Electron Beam Welding (EBW) System.

This machine, nicknamed the "Tunnel Welder", was modernized with many technological upgrades over the past few years and is in excellent condition, as it had to meet very stringent quality control requirements at its previous owner, a major aerospace company. Many additional upgrades can be added by PWT on the customer's floor. The machine footprint is approximately 80' x 30'.
The Electron Beam Welder includes the following packages:
  Package I - Control Cabinets. The machine includes a control cabinet with associated control printed circuit boards, operator console, and power distribution cabinet.
  Package II - Upgraded Vacuum System. The machine has five pumping stations interconnected to the chamber. Each pumping station will consist of a recently rebuilt mechanical pump, blower, poppet valve, diffusion pump, PWT's new-style gate valves, and interconnection hardware. The machine possesses modern vacuum gauge systems, including Televac vacuum gauges (calibrated to NIST standards) and troubleshooting simulators.
  Package III - Axis System. The machine has six axes, i.e., "X", "Y", "Z", "A" (gun rotation), "B" (gun tilt), and "C" (table rotation). The servo drive system comes complete with state-of-the-art drives, transformers, inductors, panels, and wiring. The machine possesses "X" axis (work carriage), "Y" axis (gun carriage), and "Z" axis ballscrew assemblies, including ballscrews, gearboxes, bearings, motors, motor wiring, and encoders. The encoders will provide feedback to the computer control for accurate positioning and speed control. The machine will have a rotary positioner with 42 inch diameter faceplate, rated for 2,500 pounds minimum. Other smaller horizontal positioners can be provided. Finally, the machine has a gun rotation and gun axis system, allowing complex geometries to be welded.
  Package IV - Upgraded High Speed Scanner System. The high speed (2500 Hz) scanner system will consist of a Scanner Booster Amplifier and Scanner Booster Simulator, used for troubleshooting the Scanner Booster Amplifier circuit.
  Package V - Electron Beam Gun, Camera System, & High Voltage System. The machine possesses the manufacturer's 60/60 gun, with fully refurbished gun head assembly, complete new gun wiring, camera/viewing system, and PWT vapor shield holder. The machine possesses a fully refurbished 42KW (60KV, 700ma) high voltage tank, high voltage cables, and new-style single transistor solid-state AVR system. Each of PWT's transistor packs uses one IGBT (Isolated Gate Bridge Transistor), the latest generation in power transistors.   Package VI - Computer Control System.
